My 6 Favourite Spots in Amsterdam

Amsterdam is my hometown. It’s where I grew up and always feel at ease. Every time I come back, I love strolling along the canals, picking up flowers at the Noordermarkt on Saturdays, and grabbing dinner with friends at one of my favourite restaurants. Here are a few of my top picks in Venice of the North:

1. Donsje (kid's clothing store)

Donsje (Dutch for fluffy) make handmade footwear for babies and toddlers, as well as leather accessories for kids. Founded by Florentine van Oosten Slingeland in 2013, each product is made from premium leather and produced to fair trade regulations.

Family restaurant of chef Alain Caron and his sons David and Tom, Petit Caron has a French Bistrot-style menu and a lovely terrace, just a stone throw's away from the Albert Cuyp Market.

3. Saturday morning market at Noordermarkt

Hands down the best Saturday market in Amsterdam, the Noordermarkt is part flea market and part farmer's market. Nestled between the Noorderkerk and the Prinsengracht, it's perfectly situation to enjoy the authentic Jordaan neighbourhood vibes.

4. The Soul Sisters (vitamin store)

My go-to vitamin store, Soul Sisters is run and operated by Miranda, a licensed pharmacist, beauty/health consultant, and ortho-molecular therapist with wide-spanning knowledge on all things health and nutrition. Wondering about the name? It stems from Miranda's passion for Motown music :)

5. De Juwelier (restaurant)

My favourite new restaurant by Michelin star chefs of 212, Richard van Oostenbrugge and Thomas Groot - the perfect spot for when you want to treat yourself to an unforgettable culinary experience.
